I was stupid and did my own thing, which resulted in me becoming addicted it. Now I crave the gum more than I ever did cigarettes. The gum will work, but just be careful and use it as a medicine rather than a "replacement" for cigarettes. Chew the gum for the recommended amount of time and then get off of it as soon as you can. The flavor of this gum is incredible and it is extremely soft and not hard and gritty like the generic crap they sell at Walmart, K-Mart, and Walgreens. However, with this gum tasting so good, it makes it even harder to quit chewing it, so the taste is somewhat of a double-edged sword in my opinion. However, it doesn't make quitting smoke a breeze, but it certainly helps overcome cravings. It's just important to read the instructions of how frequently and one should chew the gum as well as HOW one chews it, because I originally made the mistake of chewing it like regular gum and nearly made myself ill. All in all, quitting smoking is tough and to my surprise Nicorette actually makes it seem possible. Forget it! Using nicotine to quit only makes it harder. I'll recommend that you Buy Allen Carr's book or attend one of his courses. I did and I stopped promptly without withdrawal symptoms worth talking about. Don't jump to conclusions. I was a heavy smoker and I am an alcoholic sober 11 years. I'm not an easy case and you're not different! PS: I wonder if the tobacco companies are the owner of the Nicorette company? They, along with the Mayo Clinic, support "nicotine replacement therapy" 100%. 14 people from around the U.S. attended this program and not one of us has returned to cigarettes as a result of NRT. Yes, I chew the gum all the time but I no longer am being poisoned by the hundreds of poisonous substances in cigarettes. Thank heavens for Nicorette.
